[Week 6] Readings Takeaways

What I took from Martinez and Stager Invent to Learn is that 'making' builds the habit of generating problems. When you work with materials, something always goes wrong or turns out different than you expected, and then you have to decide what to try next. That transitional moment is the learning. It connects to Dewey for me because the point isn't in chasing a single right answer. It's learning through children's experiences and their own questions, with their real autonomy. They are not just following directions; they are figuring out what matters, what is possible, and what needs to change.

From Frame by Frame, I realized that stop motion is interesting partly because it doesn't try to hide the maker's hand. The tiny shifts, the slightly imperfect movement, and the frame-by-frame choices make the process visible. That handmade feeling makes me look longer, because I'm aware that someone had to touch, move, and decide every moment. It's the fact that you can feel time and intention inside the motion, and that changes how you watch it. In both cases, you can see the thinking in the process, and that's what matters most.
