Introduction - Jiwon

Hi, I’m Jiwon from Daejeon, South Korea. I earned a BFA from Hongik University in Painting and Metal Art & Design. And I also studied Art Education. While I was in college (2015-2020), I taught in rural high schools through volunteer programs. I also mentored middle school students through an education volunteer group supported by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Korea. These experiences helped me realize that I wanted to become a teacher.

After graduating, I taught visual arts at Holston Girls’ High School in South Korea for about four and a half years (until August 2025). In that role, I taught classes, led an art club, supported students in preparing for exhibitions, and collaborated with colleagues on interdisciplinary projects. I used PowerPoint, Adobe Photoshop, and Illustrator to create teaching materials, and occasionally Premiere as well. I’d love to learn more about AI tools and other technologies I can integrate into art lessons for my future students.

As an artist and educator, I’m drawn to hands-on processes, especially material exploration and making choices through trial and revision. I’m also interested in how students can use technology to support their own voice rather than replace it.
